Our fourth trip was very challenging for all of us because we visited children, who lost their parents during the Cyclone Nargis. Some of them were living at an orphanage school, run by the department of social welfare, and some of them lived with relatives.
We left Yangon for Myaung Mya at 10 of July 25, 2008 at 9 p.m. We had to take the Highway bus for 8 hours. The road was bumpy and full of pot holes so it didn’t go very fast. When we arrived at Cyclone Refugee center in Myaung Mya, everybody was tired and wanted to rest. After a shower we met with our local volunteers who would to do all the cooking.
Waiting for donationsOn 12th of July we went to the orphanage school, where 106 orphans live. Every child has his or her own story on how they survived. Some of them have left 2 or 3 brothers and/or sisters. They lost their parents and are not strong enough to survive on their own. So they have to rely on others’ kindness and donations.
